Do low carb diets work?

Do low carb diets work?

Low-carb diets are frequently used for fat loss, typically involve limiting carbohydrates to 20-50g per day. Low carbing has also been associated with many health benefits including, but not limited to: reduced risk of type II diabetes and metabolic syndrome, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and lower risk of stroke.

Can be an effective way to lose weight and improve your health, but it is not for everyone. When carbohydrates are cut without proper guidance and monitoring, the body can react badly and some symptoms indicate this: physical and mental fatigue, loss of energy and performance, forgetfulness, deficiency of minerals and vitamins, tremors, body aches, drop in the immune system and viruses. Low carbers sometimes call these the "low carb flu."

People often mistakenly believe that they have a food allergy to wheat or some other carbohydrate. Symptoms usually disappear within a couple of weeks as the body adjusts. It is important to drink plenty of fluids, especially water and herbal teas while following a low-carb diet. You may also want to consider taking a multivitamin/mineral supplement, especially if you are not eating many vegetables.

The benefits of diet:

• Reduces body fat
• Improves blood sugar levels
• Lowers blood pressure
• Reduces bad cholesterol levels
• Increases good cholesterol levels
• Prevents heart disease
• Helps with weight loss

Thinking about the benefits that the low-carb diet can bring to your health, the chefs at Easy Mealz have developed a menu with meals that change every week. Meals made with quality local ingredients, helping you feel better and achieve your goals.
